Jalar Appam – Recipe!

Hello everyone, so here is the recipe for the famous Jalar appam. This is also called Roti Jala in Malaysia.

Ingredients:

  • Maida – 3 Cups
  • Sugar – 1 tsp
  • Salt- as needed
  • Small Onion – 10
  • Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
  • Egg- 1
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Water
  • Milk (Optional)

Method:

  • Firstly, make sure you needed the required ingredients.
  • For this recipe, you will need a jalar mug to make the jalar.
  • Grind small onion and fennel seeds well and drain them (Onion Water).
  • In a blender, add maida flour, oil, sugar, salt, egg, onion water, water or milk, and grind them till it becomes smooth batter.
  • Heat pan, and grease ghee over it.
  • Now use the jalar mug to pour the batter on the pan.
  • Remember to spread the batter all over the pan evenly.
  • Apply some ghee on top of the Jalar Appam.
  • The Jalar appam can stay on the pan for 30-40 seconds.
  • Now repeat the steps for the remaining batter.
  • Serve and Enjoy.
